High Elms Manor Photo shoot.

The lovely Sue at Ice the Cake  www.icethecake.co.uk has featured a styled photo shoot at High Elms Manor on the Ice the cake Blog.

It was a cold, wet day in Hertfordshire but we brought a little bit of summer vintage to High Elms Manor.

I was very lucky to work with some amazingly talented suppliers, most of whom I know through the The Athena Network, an inspirational group of successful business women. http://theathenanetwork.co.uk/

www.blueskyflowers.co.uk Liz is a very special florist working at many of the most prestigious venues across London and beyond.

www.bitemebakery.co.uk Sam's stunning creations will make the most amazing center piece for any celebration. Sam is a trusted supplier at many of Hertfordshire's premium venues.

www.highelmsmanor.co.uk. Ailise at High Elms Manor will ensure that your day runs smoothly.

Other suppliers were Be Vintage www.bevintage.co.uk who can supply beautiful vintage tableware and more and Wilden Bride for the most gorgeous dresses.. http://wildenbridelondon.com/

Winter Weddings

Fairy lights, fireworks, candles, a sprinkling of frosting, Christmas in the air.
When could be a more perfect time for a wedding?
Here are some ideas to tempt you to celebrate your marriage during November and December.

Choosing a colour scheme.

Ice cool blue and silver.

Rich purples

 Deep reds

Already stunning locations may be adding some extra sparkle for the Christmas season. Find out which colours the venue will be using to decorate and incorporate this into your theme.

These Hertfordshire venues make glorious backdrops for your special day.
Hunton Park,  Fanhams Hall,  Dyrham Park,  Priory Barn and Hatfield House.

 Lighting by Lovelight. http://www.lovelight.me.uk/

The sun was shining for this beautiful wedding at Hatfield House in November and my lovely couple had chosen the weekend of the Hatfield House fireworks display, making the evening even more special. http://www.hatfield-house.co.uk/

The Priory Barn, (Little Wymondley, Hertfordshire) in November. http://www.thepriory.net/

December at Dyrham Park Country Club, Hertfordshire.. www.dyrhampark.com

Or what about January or February?

Everyone may be feeling a bit flat after the holiday season and New Year, the spring is still weeks away, not much to do. Cheer up your fiends and family with a wedding day.

Hunton Park again in February.

You can't really rely on the British weather these days. In fact one of my wettest and coldest weddings last year was in June!  You know it is going to be cold during the winter months, so you won't be upset or disappointed and you may even be pleasantly surprised if the sun does decide to shine.  Look for interiors with that magical feel. Open fires, twinkling lights, mulled wine being served in the Library. Warm , cosy, welcoming , magical.

A good photographer will always have the right equipment to cope with failing light and all weather conditions. I usually like to  to suggest to my couples that they have a few moments to themselves taking a stroll around the grounds at the venue and I remain some distance away capturing these natural moments. We have visited the venue beforehand and talked about the best places to go and had a little practice run so that these photos are as natural as possible.
If it is raining hard and a walk around the grounds is impossible, we will have discussed places where my couple can be dry such as under a porch or in a doorway or as in the picture below, on this beautiful seat (Hunton Park.) The photograph could still be taken in wonderful natural light. I of course was standing in the pouring rain getting drenched but it doesn't matter if I get wet.  I usually just have time to put a raincoat on my camera!

If photographs really can't be taken outside, your photographer should have discussed a backup plan with you for taking photos inside.

I hope you have a wonderful winter wedding.
